Can anyone help me with my young pony?

I am bringing on my (rising)4 year old welsh cob, hes only 14hh. He doesnt have a regular rhythm to his pace, so feels uncomfortable to ride, has anyone got any ideas to improve his rhythm? Im also intrested in jumping him as he has a natural jump,does anyone know any exercises to introduce young hoprses to jumping while keeping them intrested? All ideas welcome, please help!
