Hello All,

I am moving to the Hereford area from Reading within the next few months and I am looking to find livery for my two mares and one gelding but I have no idea where to start! I am looking for a livery yard no more that 5 miles from Hereford (in any direction) with a school and good turnout etc.

I am also wondering who hunts round that area, and local XC or SJ fixtures, I dont really know anyone in the area so hopefully I can make friends with people who have the same interests as me, also does anyone on here team chase or need a partner for pairs XC? I jump 3'3ft +

If you have any advice or can point me in the right direction then please get in touch!

Welcome to Herefordshire (soon) and to this website which hopefully will help you quickly find everything you need.

Presumably you have already found the 'what's on' page which lists all horsey events in the area. http://www.herefordequestrian.co.uk/whats-on/

The A-Z Directory has categories including livery yards in Herefordshire, farriers etc: http://www.herefordequestrian.co.uk/category/a-z/livery-herefordshire/

The classified ads section has pages of adverts for new and used, wanted, rent, lease, loan etc etc: http://www.herefordequestrian.co.uk/classified-ads/

If you need a yard within 5 miles of the city, look for 01432 phone codes. There are a couple of yards I can think of, one or two at Winnal, Allensmore south of the river and one at Lyde which is north. Hereford City can be a nightmare in rush hour, so it would help to know which side you need to be?

Local hunts include the North Herefordshire Hunt and the South Herefordshire Hunt, also the Ross Harriers. Then there are hunts a little further out such as the Radnor and West Hereford, Golden Valley and the Ledbury. Probably others too.

Thank you for your replies. I had my eye on a cottage in Madley but unfortunately it went just hours before I called so I am back in the house hunting mode.

Im looking for somewhere close to the city centre but not in the city centre, but I have no idea what side of the city I will be living yet which makes trying to find a livery yard rather tedious!

I have looked at the various parts of the website, it looks great and I am sure will be very helpful once I start heading out and about. I am mega looking forward to hunting up there too, i'm hoping that there will be a few stone walls about so I can pretend im in a novel like Jilly Cooper :)

So after that cottage went, I am back to cottage hunting again, tedious!
