Great to discover this website, helping me a lot with my family tree. My Grandmother was Irene Hulley (married name Mitchell) who was born in Macclesfield (1923-2009), daughter of Harold Hulley (1897-1954), Grand daughter of Henry Herbert Hulley (1876-1947) and Great Grand daughter of Jasper Hooley (1832-1904). I now know all the way back to my GGGGGGG Grandfather and many more ancestors thanks to this website! |

Isaac Hully (b. 1864. Kendal, Westmorland to Moses and Elizabeth Creighton) was my great grandfather. He died in Morristown, New Jersey ca. 1924. He had been a horse trainer. He emigrated to America earlier than shown in "Notes". |

This is absolutely amazing. I just identified Esther Hulley who married James Sidebottom a couple of days ago and now you have given me 6 more generations. I feel like I have found the end of the rainbow. I am still trying to confirm which of James' children I am descended through, whether it is James or John. The daughter's marriage notice in the paper just has J. Sidebottom. But I will get to the bottom of this little road block. Thanks for making all your extensive research available. |

Re Angulina (Angelina) Hulley nee Anzani. Her father Facncisco Anzani is by 3x great grandfather who was born in Milan and had shops in Huddersfield and Buxton selling toys and fancy goods. I was fascinated to read Angulina Anzani was originally from the Italian Barometer family. Francisco was born in Milan and came to Yorkshire as a young man and was married in Carlton, (not sure which one, perhaps Temple Newsam Carlton) and then moved to Huddersfield. Then got a shop in Buxton which became his home, but also had businesses in Manchester and Sheffield and sold at a lot of fairs. The shop in Huddersfield was called The Rocking HOrse Bazaar, F Anzani Jeweller, Toy Merchant, and Dealer in General Fancy Goods. There is a lot more, this is a notice of a shop move from The Huddersfield Chronicle and West Yorkshire Advertiser, Saturday May 18th 1850. My researches into the Anzani family takes me no further than her Father Francisco being born in Milan, so I was fascinated to see they come from the Italian barometer family. Please can you tell me any more. |

Only got to this site yesterday by Googling "Butterthwaite Wheel", where my 3rd grt. grandfather, William Wilkinson lived (1841 census). Now know his wife's maiden name was Ann Ulley.Listed as farmer in 1841 Wiliam later became a fork maker and 3 of his sons were fork grinders, but only my 2nd grt. grandfather William jnr. kept on with the trade until his death in 1885. Have now got another branch to my family tree and am very interested in Butterthwaite Wheel, the connection between the 3 families living there in 1841, and the cutlery industry. This is a wonderful site. What an amazing amount of research. So glad I found it. |

Could Milton Hulley born 1886 the son of Robert (born Mossley) and Sarah (born Stealey) be: Milton Hullery, age 24, an inpatient at the County Lunatic Asylum, in Prestwich, Lancashire, in 1911. Milton Hullery had been born in Mossley, and worked at the chemical works. This is the only person with the Christian name of Milton, born in Mossley, who was living in 1911. In 1891 the family of Milton Hulley born 1886 were living at 54 Sholver Fold, Oldham, Milton was age 5 years. By the 1901 census Milton’s father had died and his mother was head of the household, the family were then living 8 Bradshaw St, Middleton, and Milton age 15 was a Candle Maker. |
