I found a deed index for Lowndes County, Ga. It showed Sue L. Ouslay (Ousley) selling land to my Great Great Grandfather Henry Davis on Dec 7, 1909. This land is located near the township of Ousley, Ga. Wondering if more on this widow? Is she part of your history? Thank you. Henderson

I\'m a descendant of the many \"John Wests\" of 17th and 18th century Virginia. I\'m looking for a book titled \"The West Family of Stafford County, Virginia\" by Thomas Spalding, March 1996. When I search for this book online the first return I get is your web site. Do you know where I can get a copy of it or a link to it? Thanks

Researching Sarah Ann Owsley, b.1832 Missouri; daughter of Willis Owsley (& his wife Temperance Brown) of Kentucky. Sarah was married to Ralph Baptist Leavenworth, who died in 1865. Remarried to a Mr. Moore and widowed by the age of 38, she moved to the Bronx, New York City, by 1870 with her five daughters.

The youngest, Margaret Daisy Moore, age 14, died in 1883 and is buried in Woodlawn (Bronx) Cemetery with a large obelisk carved \"OWSLEY;\" no other surname.
(Three generations are buried there, none named Owsley. Her grandson, (b.1891, d.1900) was named Henry Owsley Brown.)

I cannot believe that Sarah had the money to pay for such a grand monument for her daughter, or that she would move across country from Missouri to NYC without knowing anyone who could help her.

I wonder if there was an OWSLEY relative that helped her finance it or who lived in the metropolitan area there.

Kindly help me if you are able. As with all researchers of ancestors, I have grown very close in spirit to the Owsley family and the descendants.
Thank you.
