I have 2 cockatiels that I rescued yesterday. They are Frodo (male) and Buttercup (Female). I also have an Old English Mastiff dog named Chewbacca. He weighs a whopping 238 lbs!

The birds I rescued are missing some feathers, one is missing a toe nail. They have been mistreated and kept in dirty conditions. Their first owner kept them in crab cages in a closet and didn't feed them well. They were rescued about a month ago by the lady we got them from, but her conditions were quite filthy, so we rescued them from the rescuer. I would love some tips for any special treatment I should give them. They are not hand friendly yet, but we will work with them. Thank you for your helpful site.

I have had my bird for less then a week and I wanna do right by him (I think) but he screams a lot and family does not like it almost was going to return it, when I came home they covered him and I didnt think that was fair. We decided to try harder and give him more time. 1st mistake someone right away put their hands in the cage. After a day a neighbor came in and put her hand in as I was telling her no. Made me mad. Well after a day I got him to eat millit out of my hand through the cage adn not if my fingers are there he is just cautious. However how do I get him out of the cage to start training, clean his cage or change toys without freaking him out? I would appreciate any suggesting you may have. I did read about screaming and helped but didnt find anything about getting them to get out of their cage. TY for any help you can give me.
