It is a joy to see so many of the Shorewood Cockers being adopted by their forever homes. I am thrilled for all of them. I can't imagine my home without a Cocker Spaniel in it! Congratulations to all of the "new parents", and a big thank-you to the Shorewood volunteers for all you do for these wonderful animals!

I just have to share the latest story of my adorable and naughty Kenai, who came home to us in 2005 at the Wigglebutt Walk. I was working from home on my laptop computer. Because of my arthritis, I use an ergonomic keyboard and trackball mouse. I was about to go into the office, but ran upstairs first. As always, Freckles and Murrey followed me. When I got back downstairs and started to pack up my laptop and mouse, I noticed the mouse had been knocked to the floor and the track ball was missing. Even at almost 10 years old, Kenai LOVES balls and since he was the only pup who didn't follow me upstairs AND because he is notorious for getting up on tables, etc., I knew he was the culprit. We have turned the downstairs upside down, looking under and behind every piece of furniture, but no trackball. It sure is a good thing our mischevious chocolate pup is so cute!!!

Hope everyone @ SCR has a Happy & Healthy New Year. Keep up the good work. My mom & dad and my 2 legged brother and my 2 four legged brothers all rang in the New Year. We got lots of hugs & kisses. I think my forehead is chapped!!!!

I really enjoy being Mom's only cocker now and we keep really busy with our therapy dog work. I still like the schools the best but enjoy all the folks I visit including our friend at Hospice House.

Hi there everyone! I turned 12 today and tomorrow my pal Tugalugadingdong (mom calls him Tuggie bear for short) also turns 12. Our boy, Alex, just turned 11. We are so glad to be comfy in our home and we also love to share it with foster pups from Shorewood. We get to make lots of friends that way. Mom is always looking for more foster homes to share lots of love with and teach some manners to. Could it be you? I can't teach all of these young wipper snappers how to behave...... Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope everyone gets something really special this Thursday, either your new forever home or if you have your forever home, a really yummy treat! I'm doing really well, just got a new vet at the SPCA! He's originally a Corn Husker (that's Nebraska, right?) and he's wonderful. My mommy didn't like my former vet(and more expensive one) 'cause I had a growth in my ear and he spent 5 minutes telling me he didn't know what it was, had to be removed, said it may grow back. My new vet at the SPCA spent 30 minutes explaining what it was. So I had my hee-mah-toe-mah removed and got the stitch out today. My mom really embarassed me - she almost fainted when they took it out. They made her kind of do a head stand. Anyway, just wanted to let you know what GREAT VETS they have at the SPCA's. Mine is awesome! Stay warm up there my friends, it does get a little cold here too. Last year my mommy found me a sweatshirt to keep me warm and it's from Wisconsin - I'm a Harley Chick! So cool, my boyfriend loves it!

My husband & I got Ginger 01 now SOPHIE from the SCR who is just a love in our family, our 1st cocker her name is Sarah and she just turned 14 yrs, her & sophie have been sisters for over 10yrs now -we just love them so much and we are growing old with them,our house is theres, and the couch, and the beds ect. they are spoiled and we would not have it any other way.

Freckles, Murrey, Kenai, Betty, and David Woodland just want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who worked so hard to make Wigglebutt Walk 2010 a big success. We were so happy to hear that Chunk, Duffy, and Trinity went home with their new families. As always, it was so much fun for all of us to meet the other wigglebutts and their people. The rain must have been a big disappointment to all those who worked so hard to prepare for this event and were so dedicated that they set up in the pouring rain, but thankfully it cleared up early during the actual event and everyone had a great time. Thanks to all the foster parents who care so lovingly for the dogs who are still waiting for their very own families. We hope that they all find their own permanent homes soon! Freckles, Murrey, and Kenai slept the whole way back to St. Paul, MN! Hope to see you all again next year!!!

Hey all my Wigglebutt Friends, have fun on the Wigglebutt Walk! I will walk too but 1300 miles away from you! I hope everyone finds a happy home; I thank the foster moms and dads everyday that kept me safe until I could find my forever home! Life is good! I just came back from the groomer's today and my mom tells me that I am gorgeous! I have to admit, she's right! Sometimes I get to have sleepovers at my friend's houses. Everyone tells me that they wish their dogs were as well trained as I am. I must admit, I will do anything for food. I love food! It's been a great summer here in FL but really hot. We just went for a walk and it's storming again now. They don't bother me as much anymore. If I get scared my mom just covers my head with a towel so the storms can't find me. Peek a boo, I see you! I lost my beloved Shelby on 7/26. I had her almost 15 years. She was not an SCR dog, but she had welcomed Abbey and later Ruby, both from SCR, into our home. Ruby and I both miss her terribly.

It's me, Mabel. I was adopted more than 2 yrs ago & moved to Chicago. My mom & dad call me "the amazing flying Mabel" because I like to jump over things, especially my 2 cats. I also like to sit on them. I'm also amazing because after all this time, I'm still getting braver & more confident....
We're looking forward to the Wigglebutt Walk ...it's my Family Reunion!

Happy Memorial Weekend to all my Cocker Friends! I've been having a lot of fun these last few months. I get to have a lot of sleepovers when my friend's parents have to go out of town. I have a really good friend named Sage. I taught him how to sit, lay down, and stay by hand signals. He would always watch me and he learned pretty quickly. We also went for lots and lots of walks. We really walk well together, he goes out way ahead but waits for me to catch up. I also have a very special boyfriend, named Cocoa. He's a toy poodle but really he's my best friend. He got to stay over for a few days too and he was the perfect gentleman. I'm ten years old now and I don't hear as well as I used to. That's ok though because then I can't hear the scary lightning as much. I still have my beauty queen figure, I am very happy and I'm always smiling. Life is good!

Happy birthday Charlene! She turned 10 on Friday, but you would never know it. She tries her best to keep up with her brothers, Tucker, almost 2, and Billy, about 3.

Just wanted to let you know today we are celebrating Riley (061) 7th Birthday. As we were singing Happy Birthday his tail was ready to fall off from wagging so much. He is spoiled as ever and received duck and bison treats and another ball. I think between Riley and Max & Lucky they have more balls around the house then Spaulding. He loves to carry one in his mouth and takes it outside with him when he goes potty so his brother Lucky can't take it. We love him to death and wouldn,t trade him for the world. He is velcored to me all the time. Keep up the good work and we will see you in Sept.

Hi! I just lost my cocker (Guy) and i am so sad. Guy was 13 years old... I had him for 8 years. Guy never judged me or disrespected me in any way, so I am going through a rough time. When the time is right I will adopt a cocker from the rescue. They need me as much as I need them and right now I am very needy. I have had pets other than Guy, but I found him along the river in a terrible storm. I took him home and I advertised him and nobody ever claimed him so I got him in to the vet and got him a bath and haircut and we were forever friends,,, he was my little boy. We went hrough alot of crap together, but we were always there for each other. I cry because I miss him so much.
When I am ready I hope Honey and Lucky are still available... I would love to give them a wonderful home full of love just like Guy had. They wont just be dogs or pets they will be my babies just like Guy was.

I can't believe it's been 3 years since I adopted Charlene. She loves her brothers, Billy(081) and Tucker(091), except when Tucker pulls on her ears. They all like running in the back yard, and altho she is almost 10 years old, Charlene can pretty much keeps up with the boys. They like the snow, as long as it isn't too deep, and they also like eating it!



Tucker is currently in Beginning Obedience and Billy is in Canine Freestyle (dance), so he is learning a lot of new tricks. I would still like to get Charlene into a shy dog class, and I finally found a place that has one, but the next class doesn't start until March.



Charlene is going to get her teeth cleaned tomorrow so they'll be pearly white!

We have some great furbabies out there! Congratulations to all of the pups that got adopted in 2009 and to their families as well. Keep spreading the good news of Shorewood Cocker Rescue and the wonderful work we do. We have terrific volunteers that drive to the ends of the earth, stuff their houses full of fosters so they do not have to be turned away, do endless computer and paperwork to ensure the right home goes with the right pup, and medical services provided.

Just want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Also a big hug to all the dogs that we have adopted over the years. I hope you all are snug and warm and get a special treat in the next few days. As I sit in the Midwest and look out the window I can think of many places I would rather be. Stay off the roads and be safe.

Just wanted to give an update on Brody081, who was adopted in July,2008. He is doing wonderful and as I've said in my other posts, we are totally in love with him. He is the center of attention in our house. He never runs out of kisses and just loves to be with his family. We are going on vacation the beginning of February, 2010 and I have been dreading leaving him already, even though we have a house sitter all lined up. I don't know what he is going to do without us here for a whole week. Hopefully it will be harder on me than on Brody. Anyway, thanks again to Shorewood for bringing us our Brody. He is a lucky dog for finding us but I feel that we are truly the lucky ones for finding Brody.
