I am a direct descendant of Robert Tidwell 1756-1806, wife Mary Sims, and also his brother Edmund Tidwell by way of marriage. Note: By way of several cousins marrying each other. I have information dating further back, but I have no proof so I don't like to use it. I am sure we are kin somehow. I love finding new information and I am currently researching several different families. I would still like to hear from you, via email. Thank You for your time.

Similar to Larry Tidwell's comments, it's possible that we are related somewhere down the line. The Tidswell coat-of-arms is identical to the Tidwell coat-of-arms, which is displayed prominently in my home... I wear a ring with the Tidwell crest as well.

How wonderful to find this site. My mother's brother (Jack) was married to Dorothy Tidswell. We used to live in Morecambe and (I hope that I am remembering this correctly) Uncle Len used to come and visit us there with Aunty Dot and Uncle Jack and the boys. Was it Len or Cliff that used to live in Anglesea? I was so pleased to find a picture of my mum and nana at Aunty Dot and Uncle Jack's wedding. This is the only picture that I have of nana and I will treasure it always. I will be printing a few of the photographs to add to my collection - thank you!!

My family has been doing much geneaology searches for the past three years. We have found that Tidswell was a root name for the Tidwell family and when my line came from England, they had created a variation of the name, removing the s. We have gone back to the 1600's now and hope to get even further back!

BTW, I've seen record of the name Tideswell from the year A.D. 570, prior to the Heptarchy.

I am a Lamrock our family is related to Tidswell's via marriage of Henry Parker Tidswell to Matilda Lamrock in Australia. Henry Parkers father was Henry Earnshaw Tidswell and his father was Thomas Tidswell. All we know is that Thomas was born in either Yorkshire or Lancashire around 1795 and Henry Earnshaw Tidswell was was born in Manchester around 1820. Thomas married a Nancy Kay and Henry married an Elizabeth Roby. Thomas Parker Tidswell was born Chorton-upon-Medlock, Lancashire in 1851.

It would be interesting to see if the two families are related.
