There are a million reasons why she could have had it. If she doesn't want to talk about it, don't push it, but if she seems willing, by all means...talk!

Your friend does have wires in her chest, but its not likely that they still hurt her..I have them too and I dont notice any discomfort. If she claims there is there could be a problem, or she may just be sensitive. She may also just not like having so much attention drawn to her scar.
