Re: Mojo feature

Thats a real shame. From this can we assume that he has also declined to be involved in Friday night's event at Rough Trade?

Nigel are you going? I'm bringing along my fiance, who I'm hoping will finally see the light and be converted to the world of Felt - I'm certain she would love Lawrence of Belgravia if she saw it, and pretty sure that she's gonna enjoy what Lawrence has to say for himself.

Re: Mojo feature

Yeah that is a real shame, on the plus side according to Phil King's twitter site Martin Duffy will be there Friday.

Re: Mojo feature

Thank you both for your responses. No, Matt, I shall not be in attendance, and I have no knowledge of whether MD will be there or not. However, If he did go,I would be absolutely astonished, as he once said to me that he would not allow himself to even be in the same room as anyone from Felt with the exception of Marco Thomas (it was MD who got MT into the band.)I should emphasise, however, that when he spoke those words, he was not referring to anyone who later joined Felt after he left. He never knew any of them.

Further support of the contention is in the fact that after the Foxtrot fanzine came out, Mike (one of the fanzine creators)sent me a message stating that LH had contacted him asking if he would pass a message via myself to MD, asking the latter to get in touch with the former. I did this and, quite expectedly, there was no response at all from MD; quite simply nothing.

With all of the above in mind, then, I think that it is more than a reasonable assumption that MD will not be present on Friday.

I hope that your companion comes round to Felt; it will do much to bring you even closer together, but then I am sure that you already know that. All relationships no matter how deep they start out, always have the potential for growing deeper still.

Re: Mojo feature

Cheers Nigel, I'll let you know how it all goes!

Re: Mojo feature

"he once said to me that he would not allow himself to even be in the same room as anyone from Felt with the exception of Marco Thomas"

Just need clarification on this - was this his viewpoint from his departure in 1985 or was this due to events after Felt as a whole had split? If it was the former this would indeed be very surprising - as he was backstage at the last gig at Birmingham Burberries in 1989 with Felt - and he seemed quite happy and relaxed.

Re: Mojo feature

and of course - Lawrence, Martin Duffy and Gary Ainge - all of whom were in the lineup with Maurice Deebank - played the final show.

Re: Mojo feature

Such an analysis is beyond me, as it requires an intimate knowledge of another person's experiences, both internal - such as personal attitudes, and/or reactions to memories that are either relatively fixed or changed, perhaps radically, over time - as well as any possible new external experiences that may have occurred after the relevant event or events. There can even be a combination of both.

Such information has never been imparted to me, and there arises the rhetoric question, "why should it?"
Is all that I know is what was said to me, and I can only consider the statement to be true, as I can find no reason to dismiss it as false. This is the extent of what I can say about the matter.

Thank you Matt for your gesture.

Re: Mojo feature

You will see in my previous post that at no point did I dismiss the statement as false. I was trying to pinpoint the time at which Maurice Deebank felt compelled to have the view that he did. Suffice to say itwould make perfect sense if this viewpoint came about after Felt's last concert, but it would not prove to be consistent if the views were commenced before this, based on the fact that my analysis of his relaxed behaviour backstage with the rest of the band arose from the fact that I met and conversed with him at that time.
To be fair though - these appear to be his current views in lieu of what you are imparting here - so how he was in the past doesn't have any real bearing on the present.
