RangeleyLake Guide fish report

My report this week comes from Maui as I am on a much-needed vacation with my wife and son. I couldn’t go the whole week without sampling the fishing here so I went along on a shared charter for 6 hours and wouldn’t you know we got skunked. We dragged 6 lures for approximately 60 miles and never had a bite. I had been to the docks the night before and this particular boat had caught almost 20 fish on an evening charter so I jumped on for the next opening and luck was just not with me that day. These guys fish long hot days with a lot of washing down at the end of the day, I don’t envy them a bit.

There was a tournament going on this particular day and with 22 boats in radio range only 5 fish were boated, pretty slow day to say the least. Of course everybody wants to catch a 500 lb marlin or a big tuna but they are few and far between, A record breaking Marlin came in this month at 1178 lbs. They mostly get small tuna and mahi as well as a long slender fish called ono. When I got back to the resort they were two guys fishing down the beach a ways and they had caught an ulahe? that weighed 26 lbs. I really would like to put up a photo in my gallery this week of me standing next to a big Marlin or tuna, just for the fun of it, but seriously I will appreciate getting back to Rangeley next week.

See you out there,

Shaun
