Beat The Heat

I don't remember a hotter stretch in the 14 years I've been here, but incredible as it may seem, there are still fishing opportunities. At least the forecast for this coming week is for a noticeable break in the temps, and maybe a little needed rain. I've talked to several folks over the last few days who are still getting fish in the tailwater fisheries, but like they say at Taco Bell, "think outside the bun." From the fish's stand point, that means show them something not everyone else is using, like a Kelso nymph or a Griffith's Gnat. Perhaps it's time to put on some of those wet flies you remember buying, but can't for the life of you remember what for. The flows at the dams remain good, and the "whitewater" flows are at the Magalloway the next two weeks, so plan a trip there on Monday or Tuesday after they drop back and settle down. Hope to to see old friends next weekend, out of town ourselves, and I won't have any report up for then. See you all over the Labor Day Weekend!
