I just returned from a trip to South Africa of all places and the water temp here has risen a full ten degrees and I haven’t shoveled snow from my boat since I got back! It was tough giving up a couple weeks fishing on Rangeley but this was a once in a lifetime experience that my wife and I couldn't pass up. When I left the water was 37degrees and the air was 40 with the wind and snow blowing 20 mph, some of the toughest spring conditions in quite a while.


I just spent three days last week with Howard and his family from Norwell Mass; we had some excellent fishing with one morning producing 12 fish to the boat. One day we had slow fishing with high sun and flat water, we caught 4 fish that morning and really enjoyed the sunshine and warm temps.


Another morning with Tom and Harvey produced 11 fish with one Brook trout that Harvey released at 19 inches and weighing 3 lbs. They kept a 3 and a 3.5 lb salmon to cook on the grill with their families. Check out the photo gallery for some of last week’s fish.
