Re: Cat has moved to a new home

I'm sorry to hear about your difficult situation.

A cat can take quite a while to adjust to new surroundings but the exact time will depend on age, personality, how much time you can spend with your cat and whether you've made her an indoor cat after she had previously been an outdoor one.

A couple of ideas to help ease the transition. You may want to get some Feliway which can be purchased at Petstores. This is a feline pheromone which can have a calming influence on your cat. You can buy it either as a room diffuser or a spray. It has no odor and can work quite well for some cats.

Spend extra time with your kitty. Gentle playtime and petting can help her adjust to being solo. What did she like to do when she was in the house? Did she have a special chair where she liked to nap? Did she like to sit near a window and look outdoors? Try to recreate some of the environment that she had in the house.

Two weeks is a very short time for a cat to adjust. I would give it two months (at least) before you take her back to her previous home.

good luck,
