My one year old staff ***** has a lump on her leg? help needed.

Hi, any advice would help. about 3 months ago my staff ***** developed a round sore patch which was red on the back of her leg, now it has grown into a large bulging lump which appears to cause her discomfort if touched. Its quite hard to the feel. Any ideas?

Hi,
Unfortunately, I can't tell you what the lump is. At that age, an infection or a cyst come to mind, although there are certainly other possibilities.

Since it is painful to the touch (and hasn't gone away on its own), then I recommend getting it checked out by a veterinarian. He or she may want to do a FNA (fine needle aspiration) on the lump to see what it is or possibly, just remove it. Antibiotics may be needed.

Good luck,
