limping shih tzu

i used to let my 9-year-old shih tzu wear booties until a few days ago when i wrapped the velcro too tightly around her paw. it caused a shocking swelling but it went down after i massaged it for about 2 hours. it didnt really seem to be a problem until she started limping today. on scrutinising her paw, there seems to be this wet bit around her heel. it doesnt seem to hurt but she keeps licking it. i wanted to bring her to her vet but she's on a trip. wondering if you can provide me a solution to look after it in the meantime until her vet comes back. thanks a million!

Re: limping shih tzu

Hi,
You'll need to stop her from licking her paw because it will only makes things worse.

Try some Bitter Apple spray or cream, which should be available at a local pet store.

I would definitely get your pet to the vet as soon as she gets back in town. If an infection has started, she may need antibiotics.

Good luck with your doggie!

thanks for the reply.. i've brought her to the vet already and the sore has actually healed even before the vet visit! all the vet did was picking off the scab.. =D
