Barrington & Cary were taking applications for part-time. I think it was Roselle that was looking for full-time 12 hour days. I'm not sure if they still are.

Applications are currently being accepted for the position of Community Service Officer in the City of Elgin Police Department. The posting is being made to establish an eligibility list.

DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: Responsibilities include response to and reporting of calls of a minor nature, assisting the public at the information desk, enforcement of parking and abandoned vehicle ordinances, handling of animal control duties and serves as a jailer in the City facility.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidates must be able to effectively deal with people in both emergency and non-emergency situations, respond appropriately and use good judgment under extremely busy and stressful conditions. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, required. Bilingual a plus. Flexibility and multi-tasking are paramount. High school diploma or GED (copy must be provided with application) is required. Valid Illinois Driver’s License required. Applicants must pass a background investigation, criminal history check and drug test.

STARTING SALARY: $37,948; plus a comprehensive benefit package.
