That's pretty much what I was afraid of. The way Alan McGee was "bigging up" the director put me in mind of the way he similarly hyped Paulo Hewitt's Creation book in the face of the vastly superior "My Magpie Eyes"by David Cavanagh. A book which is immeasurably enriched by the legend of Lawrence - he's very good value throughout - and is also where the metaphor about the wigwam and the igloo comes from. No film about Creation should ignore the Big L - if it's a case of "print the legend"...
Yep - the Paolo Hewitt was definitely the longerst press release I've ever read. The reason why McGee and others in the Creation camp hate Cavanagh's book so much is that it's too close to the truth IMHO. The account on the film about how the Super Furry Animals signed to Creation isn't telling the whole story either. McGhee may have approached them at a gig, but he had to be recommended them by another member of staff who had already played their demo to death.
