Another Lawrence name

I may be wrong in saying that only a very exiguous number of people on the whole of planet earth know what I am about to reveal, but I am certainly unable to recall ever reading about it anywhere.

Almost from the very beginning of Felt, Mr. Hayward did not originally call himself Lawrence; instead he adopted the name, "Jon Lawrence." I remember Mr. Deebank telling me that he was having a conversation with Mike Alway of Cherry Red and that Mr. Alway had referred to Mr. Hayward in passing as, Jon Lawrence. However, he must have called himself by such an appellation for a very short time only, because as I have said, I have never seen it in print and it was the only time that Mr. Deebank ever heard anyone call him by that particular name.

This spelling of Jon is also correct; in other words, the "H" is definitely omitted.

Re: Another Lawrence name

When I read this post I had a nagging suspicion that I had stumbled on this piece of information before - and it turns out I did.....

Re: Another Lawrence name

I read the Alistair article and totally forgot about the name.

Anyway...
For those Felt fans that are not acquainted, "Mr. Hayward" is Lawrence and "Mr. Deebank" is Maurice Deebank.
In the future if there's a reference to "Miss Ciccone", that'll be Madonna and Mr. Pop is in fact Iggy Pop.

But probably there's no need for such a formal language, specially when we are talking about pop/rock/indie music.

Keep it real

Yeah like Lee I had a nagging feeling I'd seen the name before and here it is in the Dave McCullough '81 Sounds review of the Moonlight gig, kindly uploaded on the rather splendid "Felt: A Declaration" blog
