Most rivers have closed for fishing except Upper Dam, The Rangeley River,and South Branch of the Dead River,and about 25 or 30 ponds,so there is still plenty of fishing available for the die hard. Now we are into bird hunting.
My new Brittany pup just turned 1 year and on her first hunt she pointed 3 woodcock and we moved 1 grouse,no shotting because there are so many leaves still on the trees it is impossible. Next day 4 grouse ,2 points and still no shooting. The last 2 days there has been a substantial leaf drop so that maybe I can get some shooting and hopefully make a kill for the pup.
