Trolling Rangeley

Salmon and Trout are hanging a little deeper as the summer heat warms the water but early mornings and evenings are still producing catches at 15 to 25 feet.
On Wednesday afternoon with the Roskamp boys and their father Eric we had good action at 30 feet for salmon and picked up an 18" brookie at 40 feet. The brookie was a very healthy 04 hatchery fish that weighed almost 3lbs. Another Brook trout this week came from 43 feet on a sewn smelt and it was also 18" and well fed to football shape. I have seen several good size schools of smelts which is always encouraging to see. One school was approximately 40 feet long and was stacked 35 feet tall.
Jim and Erin returned this past week from New York and we had a great evening catching a few salmon and catching up as well. Erin caught and released a nice native fish that weighed 3.5 lbs and measured 21"
Summer fishing is upon us and Rangeley is the place to try for that next trophy salmon or trout.
See you out there,
Shaun
