Rangeley Lake

As the ice officially cleared on Rangeley Lake on May 7, trout and salmon were being caught on the surface and along the shore line. Streamers such as the beaded gray and beaded red gray ghost along with the Sneeka were favorites. DB Smelts produced well along with sewned bait. Fish were found from the surface to 20'and a few deeper. As the smelt moved from the mouth of the streams back into the lake, so did the trout and salmon. Mooselookmeguntic has produced very few fish so far,but should start within the next few days. All the trout ponds are ice free and are fishing quite good. Most rivers are still quite high and fast but some are starting to show some good fish.
