Hunted with Jim from Mass. on 10/4 and 10/11 and what a wonderful pair of German shorthairs Jake a 14 year old who hunts like he is 5 and Abby a 7 year old. Both are well trained and are real bird finders. On the 4th it rained hard all day and we found the hunting to be really hard but still we managed to put up a few birds and only hunted for 2 hours.On the 11th it was 75 degrees we found 13 birds and shot 2. The leaves are still very thick which makes for hard shooting. On the 10th I hunted with Harry and his son Matt, they had a very nice Setter that hunted hard, again in 75 degree weather we put up 7 grouse and 3 woodcock shooting 1 woodcock. It seems if you get far back in the covers there are more birds than we thought but we are really working hard for them.
