The 3rd week of deer season brought heavy snow in some areas up to 14", good for tracking, hard walking. This week I hunted with a Dad and his son from S.C., the son joined us on Tuesday and hunted for 3 days, great people to hunt with. Dad saw a nice buck on Tuesday, unfortunately the deer came up behind him and it was just a quick glance before he was gone. The snow held up well and the deer were really moving as the bucks were still making scrapes and rubs. Two more bucks were spotted, one shot at but not hit. Friday morning the rains came and it was wet in the woods, but it made for good still hunting and we were able to connect with a 180 lb. 8 point buck. Dad was very happy as this was his first Maine deer. We'll see what week 4 brings.
