Fishing Report

Well, that was an interesting 3-4" of rain on Monday AM, but I guess the upside is the added water that will be able to flow longer, keeping conditions as they are for more time. Obviously, the increased flows that resulted, and continue to result, have hampered what was looking like Shangri La, but there has still been some decent opportunities at Upper Dam, which produced great fishing for our friends Jamie and Chrissie Gibbons of New Jersey.

The Upper Dam flow has been cut back from 1810 cfs to 910, so the fishing should be even easier to find. Don't forget the walk in is at the gate one mile out now 'til Sept.

The lower Magalloway was unbelievably good last Tuesday and Wednesday after the white water flows were dropped back to 320 cfs. Look for similar results if the flows are returned this week. Next week is the last white water here, as they shift to the Rapid River for the next four weekends starting 7/20. I'd bet on great fishing on the Rapid the week after they cut their flows back.

The "Hatch" has begun in heavy fashion on Kennebago Lake this week, and using 8's and 10's is not uncommon in your favorite drake patterns. Get there if you can.

Hope we'll see soon, but until then just keep on truckin'
