Androscoggin River Report

Androscoggin River report water temp 45.2 flow rate 5782 CFS @ Mead paper in Rumford. For those of you who have not had an opportunity to fish Maine’s upper Androscoggin River yet you are missing an excellent chance for a Great fishing experience!

The river has made a GREAT come back from being one of the ten most polluted rivers in the nation. Thirty years into it’s clean up it is now at par with the upper Kennebec and the Penobscot as a Blue Ribbon Fishery! Rainbows, Browns, Brookies, and Small mouth Bass are available in good numbers with fish up to twenty plus inches caught with regularity by knowledgeable fisherpersons.

The food chain is the key to the river’s productivity. The clean up has allowed the insects and baitfish to flourish and now we have a Beautiful and abundant river eco-system.

I floated the river yesterday with clients and saw some nice fish come to boat. The fishing can only get better as the water temp climbs into the “golden fifty’s”.

There is 165 miles of river that drains 1500 square miles and it’s your’s to use! All I can ask is you respect it and leave no trace. THINK CATCH AND RELEASE.
