Rangeley Lake - July & August

My family and I are going up to Rangeley Lake for our annual 2 week get-together and I want to catch some landlocked salmon and brook trout this year. I've only ever caught perch, chubs and, once, a brook trout. I've heard of some good salmon and trout fishing on the lake, just never had the oppotunity to hook into some salmon and brookies. Any advise for this time of year as far as setup and location would be greatly apreciated.

Tight Lines,
Eli

Re: Rangeley Lake - July & August

Downriggers or /and leadcore lines are a must for that time of year as the fish will be at least 40' deep. You should fish in the area of the big island and the State park. You might try hiring a guide.
