Consultant for gender study of the Health Partnership Scheme.

THET is inviting applications to tender for a gender study of health partnerships. The study will analyse partnerships' approach to gender equality in a sample of health partnerships, and outline recommendations for future health partnerships to integrate gender equality approaches into partnership management, area of work, project design and implementation, and monitoring, evaluation and learning.

THET is the managing agent for the DFID-funded Health Partnership Scheme. The Health Partnerships Scheme (HPS) supports the work that health institutions are trying to achieve by promoting and enabling Health Partnerships between UK health institutions and their counterparts in developing countries. The aim of Partnerships is to improve health services in developing countries through the reciprocal exchange of skills, knowledge and experience between partners in the UK and those overseas.

Details of THET’s programmes are included in the Organisation Overview attached or available on our website: http://issuu.com/thet-global_health/docs/10681_thet_org_overview_-_web. Information from HPS is on page 10.

Aims of the study:
• Design and undertake an analysis of gender equality in a sample of health partnerships, with respect to context, health partnership management, volunteer management, health workforce strengthening and health service improvement, as well as grant selection.
• Outline recommendations for future health partnerships to integrate gender equality approaches into partnership management, area of work, project design and implementation, and monitoring, evaluation and learning.
