Evaluation & Learning Manager post at Comic Relief

You probably already know something about Comic Relief. We’re lucky enough to be an organisation that 90% of British people have heard of – and we’re hugely proud of that recognition. Since 1980, we’ve been making people laugh, making them passionate about development, and making a real difference to ordinary people, living incredibly tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa.

What you probably don’t know is all the things that happens behind the Red Nose.

You might not know how we are committed to asking ourselves tough questions about how we make grants – about when and why these grants make a difference. You also might not know that 40% of all money raised on Red Nose Day and 50% of all money raised from Sport Relief goes to projects right here in the UK.

This is where we need you, a UK-focussed MEL expert, who can help us show how well our grants our working, guide their MEL work, and make what we do… better.
About you
You’re an incredibly articulate MEL professional. You walk into a crowded room and can make MEL feel accessible, exciting and relevant no matter who you’re talking to. (Hint: that means not talking about stratified random sampling)

You are experienced doing MEL in the UK social science or charity sectors, whether evaluating, or helping others to evaluate the effectiveness of domestic violence helplines or anti-bullying initiatives in school or even whether we should all be worried about killer robots (we like people with imagination!). You’ll be working to support diverse individual projects as well as leading big evaluations and studies across a whole range of issues.

You’re good at taking on new challenges and multiple deadlines – and believe us, we will throw them at you. But, you’re also not afraid to stand your ground: you can argue, persuade and cajole people to change their minds based on the information you’re giving them.

If that sounds like you, apply online via the link. We want to see your CV, a covering letter telling us why you’re passionate about what you do, and how you think it can help shape our work.

Comic Relief positively welcomes, and seeks to ensure we achieve, diversity in our workforce and that all job applicants and employees receive equal and fair treatment, regardless of age, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality. We encourage applications from disabled people and we will guarantee a first stage interview to all disabled applicants who sufficiently demonstrate in their application how they meet the essential criteria for the job as outlined on the person specification of the job description.
