I am building a new web site for the sailing club and have decided to see if there is any interest from our Young Sailors in a junior section. You can find a starter example page here. Let all our Young Sailors see this please and give me some feedback (from the link on the page or via email).
Hi Steve!
I'm all for the new web site!!! I've got a vote for the Kool Kielder Kids Forum (my name for it). I'm quite keen on games or links to sailing games. This is just for the moment, I going to get some more ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rosie - thank you! Kool Kielder Kids it is then. Let me know of any games you want me to link to and I will put them somewhere on the Junior web site. Thanks.
In the course of helping R find what she has in mind(never an easy task - as you can imagine) I came across the Helfor River Children's sailing Trust site
www.hrcst.org.uk/website/htm/aboutus.htm
which seems to have good sailing info in a child friendly format. Good images and not too many extra words (just useful ones)
Tim, Kirstie - these are excellent examples of information I can refer to on the Junior Web Site I will also include Julie's young sailors 'booklets as a resource and we should start to build a good source of junior info. Keep these ideas coming please everyone.
There is also an RYA acitivty sheet derived from the Go Sailing Book - can't find it through the RYA - but I have a hard copy we could scan and you can download it from here ...
We love the idea of the kids website! We would like a "junior forum" if it is possible. That way we could keep up to date with each other with regards to how we are getting on with our sailing. We could swap tips and ideas with each other without "butting in" on the "adult" conversations. More ideas to follow!!!!
Ignore last message, my message didn't get sent. It should have read:-
I love the idea of the site. Could we have some sailing related games and maybe some sailing quizes put on the site to help us learn and improve our sailing.
