Clipping in the summer

I've got a 15.1hh coloured cob, who never really sheds his coat. I clip him in the winter which is fine, but having just started jumping again he is really struggling with this heat. I was wondering if anyone else has clipped in the summer due to this problem, and would this affect your placing in the show ring? Thanks.

No problem clipping in the summer and you shouldn't get marked down for it. Have clipped many in the summer months and had no trouble with coats growng back.

My shetland is clipped all year round because he gets too hot in his wooly coat. If its for the horses benefit then I dont realy see the problem
