Cathy;
I have two questions
first is the hen mating?
second is the face bare as well or just the crown ( back of the head)?
If the hen is mating and there are no facial feathers missing it could be lovers moult.
The male grips the hen by her nape and sometimes crown and feathers are lost while they copulate.
As far as mites and mite infestations go it sounds like you are doing a good job in staving that.
Now if the hen is missing facial feathers and seems fine otherwise she could be suffering an iodine defeciency.
Gouldian physiology calls for great amounts of iodine and so the birds must be supplemented.
I use spirulina ( found at any drug store) and spinach in my daily feeding.
These seem to keep the birds from going bald.
Once the birds iodine levels have been corrected you should see her showing signs of feather regeneration and growth.
This may take several months but it should be very noticeable. Another item I find works extremely well for helping to speed up feather re-growth is:
to use the dufo plus and ioford nf together to decrease the amount of time needed for full facial feather recovery and also the quality of feather re growth.
Hope this helps

Ron
