Osprey Welsh and Midland Championships 3rd/4th May
Just for the record 2 and a bit Kielder teams visited Tenby for this event with Rob Shaw and Ian Little coming second overall pushing the eventual winners (Richard and Mark Hartley - Carsington SC) all the way. Given some luck with gear on the Saturday the result might have even closer. Viola and Mike won race 5 after a close fought duel with the Hartleys. This is only the second time this year that anyone has taken a championship race from the Hartleys. The previous occasion being at Blithfield a few weeks ago when the present National Champions managed it. |

It was great to see Rob and Ian getting some good heavy weather results on the Saturday and coming ashore with smiles on their faces! Once again Angela put in an awesome crewing performance finishing all the races with Alec and setting up for a good overall result. Yes our Saturday launch got mucked up by minor gear troubles and by the time we got sorted we were wrapped up in catching damaged returning boats as they were blasted up the beach by the surf, so we never made it out, but I can candidly confess that I wasn't any too keen. It looked absolutely terrifying! Wimpish pond sailor I be. |

Has anyone put the Hartleys boat on the scales?? Maybe they made themselves a skunk-works all carbon hull, in the middle early hours of the morning & away from spying eyes. |

According to the results on the Tenby website Alec has a new wife called Ann and Mike was helming for Viola! Nice to see that my old boat was out there on the Sunday. |
