I am so overwhelmed!!!
Good morning Mom's... Yesterday I recieved word that I am being honored at a luncheon, "National Crime Victims' Rights Week," the County of Santa Barbara, has awared me with the "Citizen of Courage Award",,after Jr's death I talked at forums against violence, during his court I stayed active in the investigation, talking to the chief of detectives regularily, taking them any information for a motive that I could find,, I also met with the DA's office several times duing our court hearing to find out where we were and what was going to be done next...I refused to let Jr's death be in vain,,I was going to make a difference and I was going to try hard that a nother family doesn't suffer like we have and continue to do...I also was asked to volunteer at the DA's office, (until a position is open for me) to assist with paperwork and anything else they needed...I have also been asked to be on a panel for youthful offenders, to try and let them know what happens to the victims family after you have commited this horrible crime to try and detour them for doing something worst..So ladies I won this award for just being noisy, and outspoken about my son's murder...My husband and daughter are so proud of me for what I have accomplished and what I am still trying to do...not trying am doing... I just wanted to share with the ones that have been there for me to vent and helped me to stay focuses,,I am so sorry no words can ever express how sad I feel somedays not for myself but for all of you mom's that are still going through the process that I have already endured, also the ones that don't have a face to be angry at or cuss at..My heart sincerely goes out to each and every one of you.. Love you so much for just hanging in there and being strong... it is like what they say "THAT WHICH DOES NOT KILLS US MAKES US STRONG", well hell we should all be able to lift the world... That is so great, you are speaking on behalf of your child's memory. Exactly what I try to do, everything I do, people I speak with, or newpapers, news articles, anything I can do I do it because I know this will keep my son's memory alive and I have always been a very strong advocate for my son, as he had problems in school (he had bipolar) and had many difficult moments mainly school, he was a completely different kid outside of school so that shows you something does't it, and I'm not going to stop now, never will.
