Birthday celebrations
I am asking if anyone moms that do something special on their child's birthday could share what it is with me. Spaghetti was my Brandon's favorite meal and since he was killed in 2004 we have had this dinner on his birthday. Well this year on March 28 it will be his 25th birthday and I would like to do something special but do not know what I could do. Any thoughts? Love, Kim |

Re: Birthday celebrations
Hi Kim, This isn't novel or anything like that, but sometimes I get a mylar balloon and a black sharpee pen and I write a letter to my son (or mom or dad) and then I let it go and watch it sail into Heaven. Part of me thinks that it is acutally "delivered", another part of me is just happy to let open the flood gates of emotions that I keep buried deep inside. I've heard that it's nice if you plant a tree of something, depends on the climate where you live. My son Taelor would be 25 also this year (june 25). Maybe I will plant a tree for him. I'll watch it grow and everyone will know that it's Taelor's tree. We don't have much of a yard so I'll have to figure something out. I planted a bunch of things at the cemetary, so maybe I'll plant a tree for him there. Let me know what you do, and God bless your sweet boy Brandon. I know how much you miss him. Love, Lorre |

Re: Birthday celebrations
Kim, I don't know if this is a good one or not, because it was his first b-day with out him he would have been 27, so we went to the store and bought a 2 and 7 mylar balloon, and 27 other balloons (jr loved cowboys so we picked silver round, blue stars, and white rounds) we met at the cemetary (all the family and friends) we bought a cake that said HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUNIOR and we took a sharpie and everyone wrote notes to him, we had cake we cried, and after about 2 hours we let all the balloons go to him in heaven, sounds kinda of dumb, but that's what I wanted It was really nice his kids sat there and watch the balloons until they couldn't see them anymore then his "Brie" looked up at me and said "Gammy daddy got our notes, Hun" It was cool for them. I feel that what ever you do for your love is what you do, Brandon sounds like my Jr he loved food also. He would never sit down to eat. It would make me crazy he would stand over the stove and eat what ever I made that night for dinner, I actually have a pix of Jr standing over the stove slurping up spaghetti it his greasy grimmy clothes because he was working on a car, so spaghetti sounds really good to me. Prayers and Hugs Frances, Jr's mom |

Re: Birthday celebrations
Hi Kim, My Eric will be 29 this Friday I(can't believe how old I am getting) and I too release balloons for him every year. I usually have a graveside remembrance, (cake and all the trimmings)with family and all his friends but for some reason this year I just can't pull it together. So I think this year will be my own private celebration with him. I wish you peace on Brandon's birthday. Love, Eric's Ma Onna |
