to all moms
I wrote this today,,it wont go down in history as classic poetry, but explains how I and all of us here feel, very simply. I love you all, Yvonne (Josh Underwood's mom) You Were Here You were here, AND you mattered. The murder of you, my son Has left my life shattered But struggle I will, To walk through each day Although I will never, ever be okay. It will NEVER be okay That someone stole your life, And sentenced our family To a LIFETIME of strife. I know that you live on, eternally free from harm, But the child I gave birth to, I can never hold in my arms. You will never be forgotten And though my heart's in tatters, The pain is worth it ALL, Because you were here, AND you mattered. Yvonne Sheppard (Joshua Underwood 1981-2005) |

Re: to all moms
Beautiful sentiment...with Thanksgiving coming this will be a difficult week for us. It is so comforting to see that others of you feel the same as I do, it's almost as though you've read my mind... |

Re: to all moms
This will be my second holiday season without my Josh and I am not looking forward to it at all. I choose to participate with my other family so as not to have them worry about me or what I am going to do. But if the truth be known I would just like to stay at home and enjoy some peace and quiet to ponder my memories and cry when I feel like it. It is not a happy time for any of us, praying that God will see us all through these difficult times. ps I really like the poem. |

Re: to all moms
what a lovely poem. i have often said myself that if i had a choice between never having my boys and never going through the agony of their deaths or having them for the short time i did and losing them, even so violently, i would chose to have known the love that they brought into my life. as someone once said,"it's better to have loved and to have lost than to never have loved at all." thanks for sharing your poem |
