I will be moving to the Albany area in the next few months and am searching for a school for my son. He has SPD with auditory, tactile, and visual sensitivities. He is currently in a public school where I am working with the staff to try to accomodate his needs. I am open to either Public or private school recommendations where you have had good success with working with the staff/administration.

You know, a lot depends on who you talk to. One person will go on and on about how great a district is. Meanwhile someone else will do nothing but complain about the same district.

With that said, I've heard good things about the Bethelehem school district in Albany County and Averill Park in near-by Rensselaer County.

You DON'T want to send your child to Albany City Schools.

You could also try e-mailing AspergerAdvocacy@aol.com. I don't know if your 7 year old has a diagnosis of Asperger's, but a lot of kids with Aspergers also have SPD.
